BOOK OF KELLS CHI-RHO Wall Art

The intricate knot work shown here is taken from the lavishly decorated Folio 34r, known as the Chi Rho page of the Book of Kells  The Chi Rho page introducing Matthew’s account of the nativity, has the reputation as being the single most famous page in medieval art. It belongs to the Gospel of St. Matthew, which is one of the four gospels of the New Testament beautifully transcribed in the Book of Kells.
